Collimated Beam Testing

The application of UV irradiation to disinfect water and wastewater is reported to offer additional advantages over alternative disinfection technologies, not least the absence of significant disinfection by-products, and cost-effectiveness.

A number of organisations including the USEPA and NWRI /AwwaRF have produced guidance manuals to assist the relevant utilities and agencies in assessing low-pressure UV systems for disinfection.

The CREH Analytical Ltd laboratory has the capability to carry out laboratory experiments using a collimated beam (Collimated Beam Testing (CBT)) of UV light to generate a UV dose-response relationship for a particular organism that can be used in the design and the validation of UV disinfection systems.
